Stikkit Offer Web 2.0 Version of Stickys

StikkitA new Web 2.0 site called Stikkit is trying to take the concept of stickys to the Internet. O'Reilly Radar says it provides a "rich user experience."
The basic concept is simple: take notes in your browser instead of scrawling them on sticky notes and tacking them to your computer monitor, your desk, your cubicle walls, etc. But packed inside the simple metaphor of a yellow note pad is a rich user experience. The genius lies in extracting todos, calendar entries, contacts, bookmarks, and tags from the text you feed it.
So where is the Web 2.0 site from the real Post-it Notes? There are some programs that have tried to bring stickys to the Web (see here and here) but nothing from the makers of Post-it Notes.

Yahoo Buys Upcoming.org Social Calendar Site

Yahoo has acquired Upcoming.org, a social calendar service where people can list and update events and share them with others. Upcoming.org competes with other social calendar and evite services like Zvents.com, WhizSpark.com, Evite, SocialWeb.net and MyEvents.com. It will be interesting to see if the switch to Yahoo goes as smoothly as the recent Flickr acquisition by Yahoo.

Web Calendars Making a Comeback

Trumba Online Calendar ServiceA News.com article says that online calendars are making a comeback and Trubma.com is one of the companies making calendars easier for web users. Trubma.com makes calendars easy to update with online forms allow users to input information and import data. Trumba also allows users to share calendars with each other for group activities. The company hopes that people will be willing to be a subscription fee to use the service. Things look good for Trumba now, but they will have to compete with the big dogs for marketshare:
Trumba isn't the only company eyeing online calendars as a potentially important market. Industry observers say it is only a matter of time until Web search leader Google of Mountain View, Calif., adds online calendar services to its online search, e-mail, calendar, blogging and shopping services.

The other two big players in online calendar services, Microsoft's MSN and Yahoo of Sunnyvale, Calif., have also continued to offer Web-based scheduling as an integrated part of their online e-mail services.
